Christmas Cookies to make with the Kiddos!

This Christmas, have some fun (and make a little mess) with your kiddos! We have gathered some Christmas cookie recipes from ricekrispies.com that are SUPER easy to make, crafty, and tons of fun for your kids (not to mention, they are pretty tasty).

Ornament-shaped desserts you can decorate

RICE KRISPIES TREATS®

Spruce up Santa's snack with your little helpers by decorating each tasty "ornament" with frosting and Christmas-colored M&M'S® candies.

Prep Time: • Total Time• Servings12

Ingredients
  • 12 (6-inch lengths)   red or black string licorice
  • 12   miniature marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons   butter or margarine
  • 1 package (10 oz., about 40)   regular marshmallows
  • - OR -
  • 4 cups   miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups   Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
  •    Frosting
  •    M&M'S® brand chocolate candies

1. Fold each licorice piece in half and push ends through centers of 12 marshmallows. Set aside.

2. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add 10 ounces marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using 1/2-cup measuring cup coated with cooking spray divide warm cereal mixture into 12 portions. Using buttered hands shape each portion into ornament shape around licorice ends. Cool. Decorate with frosting and M&M'S® brand chocolate candies. Best if served the same day.


MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS: In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 through 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.


Note:For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container.






Christmas tree dessert

RICE KRISPIES TREATS®

Your kids will love decorating these little trees just as much as they do the real one. Serve these green goodies to your holiday guests; just don't forget to save one for Santa.

Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons   butter or margarine
  • 1 10 oz. package (about 40)   regular marshmallows
  • 6 cups   Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
  • 2 cups   M&M'S® brand chocolate candies

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated. Add M&M'S® brand chocolate candies. Gently stir until well mixed. 

3. Using a spatula, press mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan lined with parchment paper. Bring parchment paper up on both ends to allow ease in removing from pan. Allow to cool.

4. Turn treats out of pan upside down. Remove parchment paper. Use Christmas Tree-shaped cookie cutter sprayed with cooking spray to cut out shapes.

Cute Santa Claus faces
RICE KRISPIES TREATS®


Make these jolly, round faces with your kids on Christmas Eve. Then leave them out for Santa to enjoy while he delivers presents.

Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons   butter or margarine
  • 1 package   (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
  • - OR -
  • 4 cups  miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups   Rice Krispies®
  •    Canned frosting or decorating gel
  •    Assorted candies

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. 

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool slightly. Using 4-inch cookie cutter coated with cooking spray cut into Santa faces. Decorate wtih frosting and/or candies. Best if served the same day.


MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.


Note 

For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container. To freeze, place in layers separated by wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
